Examiner.com is shutting down

It is being reported that news website examiner.com is shutting down soon.  “Michael Roth, a Los Angeles-based spokesman for Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) . . . notes that “we did not put out a statement” announcing Examiner.com’s demise.”  In an email to examiner.com writers it was announced that the website would “close down on or around July 10, 2016.”

Oscar Pistorius gets six years for murdering Reeva Steenkamp

In a shocking end to a three-year legal battle, it is being reported on July 6, 2016 that Oscar Pistorius was sentenced to six years in prison for murdering his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.  He will be eligible for house arrest by 2019.   Reeva Steenkamp’s parents left the courtroom without comment.

Paul Bernardo, Canada’s most notorious murderer/rapist applies for day parole

It is being reported on July 3, 2016 that the most notorious Canadian rapist and murderer, Paul Bernardo, has applied for day parole.  Legal experts say it is very unlikely that he will be allowed parole.  “Criminal lawyer Daniel Brown says Bernardo’s chances of release from jail, now or in the future however, are virtually nil.”  Bernardo’s victims have been contacted and they are directed to send impact statement by July 14, 2016.

It is being reported on July 1, 2016 that the young Chicago couple imprisoned for murdering wealthy mother, 62-year-old Sheila von Wiese-Mack, have split up.  They separated over disagreements on who should take care of their baby.

It is being reported on July 2, 2016 that Michelle Carter, the Massachusetts teenager charged with influencing her friend to commit suicide via text messages, will have to stand trial for involuntary manslaughter.

It is being reported on June 23, 2016 that Amanda Knox‘s co-defendant, Rudy Guede, has been allowed to leave prison for 36 hours this weekend. Guede is allowed a leave from his regular prison routine on account of good behavior. This will be the first time he has been out since his arrest in 2007 when he, Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito were charged with the murder of Meredith Kercher.

Amanda Knox wrote in her memoir:

[Chapter 6, Page 66] ” …. I went to the big bathroom to use Filomena’s blow dryer and was stashing it back against the wall when I noticed poop in the toilet. No one in the house would have left the toilet unflushed. Could there have been a stranger here? Was someone in the house when I was in the shower? I felt a lurch of panic and the prickly feeling you get when you think someone might be watching you.”

It is being reported on June 16, 2016 that convicted murderer, Oscar Pistorius, is in trial which will determine his sentencing. “Walking in court on his stumps while dressed in sportswear emblazoned with the logos of his former sponsor Nike, Pistorius was unsteady at times, holding onto wooden desks and helped by a woman at one point.” While they wrap up his trial, some may wonder what comes next. The answer is most likely a book deal.
