It is being reported on July 1, 2016 that the young Chicago couple imprisoned for murdering wealthy mother, 62-year-old Sheila von Wiese-Mack, have split up. They separated over disagreements on who should take care of their baby.
“They once called themselves ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ but apparently the confines of an Indonesian prison proved too powerful for their young love to last.”
Heather Mack, 20, is serving a 10-year-sentence for murdering her mother on August 12, 2014 while on vacation with her in Bali. Her boyfriend at the time, Tommy Schaefer, 22, is serving an 18-year-sentence for the attack. Sheila von Wiese-Mack’s half nude body was found stuffed in a suitcase in the back of a taxi outside the luxury St. Regis hotel. The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma to the head.
Heather was pregnant at the time of the murder and gave birth to a daughter, Stella, in prison in March 2015. The baby is staying with Heather behind bars, until she is two years old, as is allowed by Balinese authorities.
Heather and Tommy’s family feud has been recently displayed on their Instagram accounts. They are allowed cell phones in prison and Heather regularly posts pictures and videos.
” . . . [Tommy] Schaefer began taking to social media to criticize Mack’s parenting skills. Schaefer told his followers he has tried without success to persuade Mack to allow family to raise their daughter while they are imprisoned.”
Heather refused to comment on their relationship problems.
