Defense of girl who pushed her boyfriend to kill himself says ‘no crime committed’

It is being reported on August 23, 2015 that the 17-year-old girl who convinced her boyfriend to commit suicide via text is claiming that no crime was committed.  The attorneys for Michelle Carter say that her text messages are protected under the first amendment.  “Michelle Carter, now 18, is charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of 18-year-old Conrad Roy III. He died of carbon monoxide poisoning last July [2014] and was found in his truck behind a Fairhaven K-Mart, police said.”

Hired Cyberhacker attacks Rutgers University computer system

Exfocus

It is being reported on August 23, 2015 that a cyberhacker who calls himself, Exfocus, has repeatedly attacked the computer infrastructure of Rutgers University.  The disruptions have taken down their website four times in the past year.  Exfocus has also taunted Rutgers on social media, saying, “I’m fairly certain I could run circles around all of you with my eyes closed, and one leg amputated.”

Guman shoots 3 people with AK-47 on Paris bound train

An unidentified 26-year-old Moroccan man shot three people, American, British and French nationals on a Paris bound train.  The gunman was subdued by off-duty U.S. soldiers.  The high-speed train originated in Amsterdam and was en route to Paris. 12-year-old Slenderman stabbers plead ‘not guilty’ – trial starts in October

It is being reported on August 21, 2015 that the two12-year-old girls who attempted to kill their friend in a sacrifice to the fictitious character Slenderman, plead not guilty in court today.  The two girls, Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier, now 13, are being  tried as adults and face decades in prison.

Two more women accuse Bill Cosby of sexual assault

A press conference was held on August 20, 2015 with two more women coming forward and accusing comedian Bill Cosby of drugging and raping them in the 1970’s.  A press conference was held in New York with the two women and their attorney Gloria Allred.   Allred is representing almost half of the victims.

Judge ruled on pre-trial motions in favor of prosecutors in Hannah Graham murder trial

It is being reported on August 20, 2015 that the judge has ruled on the pre-trial motions presented by murder suspect Jesse L. Matthew Jr’s defense.  “Jesse L. Matthew Jr., 33, appeared in a Charlottesville courtroom Thursday afternoon for a series of motions in the capital murder case against him . . . Matthew was originally charged with first-degree murder, but prosecutors upgraded the charge to capital murder in May after consulting with Graham’s family and weighing the impact on the community.”

NY father sentenced to 15 years – held responsible for daughter’s fatal car crash

It is being reported on August 20, 2015 that  Michael Ware, 54, of Scarsdale, NY has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for giving his 15-year-old daughter keys to SUV which she later crashed killing three teenagers. His daughter Julia Ware was given probation by the courts last May. She cannot get a drivers license until the court decides that she is fit to drive.

Oscar Pistorius to wait up to four months for decision on his release

It is being reported on August 20, 2015 that Oscar Pistorius may have to wait up to four months for the review board to make a decision about his early release.  Pistorius was sentence to five years or 60 months for the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

Judge decides on pre-trial motion in Hannah Graham murder case

It is being reported on August 20, 2015 that a judge is deciding on the pre-trial motions of Hannah Graham’s murder case.  Jesse Matthew Jr. has been charged with abducting and murdering the University of Virginia student.  Graham went missing on September 12, 2014 which set off a nationwide manhunt.  Surveillance  video showed Graham with Matthew and a month later Graham’s remains were found in Albemarle County.
