It is being reported on August 20, 2015 that Oscar Pistorius may have to wait up to four months for the review board to make a decision about his early release. Pistorius was sentence to five years or 60 months for the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
He is required to serve one-sixth of his sentence or 10 months before the justice department considers an early release for good behavior. Originally an early departure had been decided after only eight months or last June which was deemed yesterday to be premature and against the regulations for early release.
On Monday, prosecutors filed for an appeal of Pistorius’s verdict of “culpable manslaughter” to a full charge of murder which would carry a minimum 15 year sentence.
