It is being reported on June 23, 2016 that Amanda Knox‘s co-defendant, Rudy Guede, has been allowed to leave prison for 36 hours this weekend. Guede is allowed a leave from his regular prison routine on account of good behavior. This will be the first time he has been out since his arrest in 2007 when he, Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito were charged with the murder of Meredith Kercher.

20,000 sign petition to stop Amanda Knox ex from being on TV

After the international publicity announcing Amanda Knox’s ex-lover, Raffaele Sollecito being hired as a crime expert on Italian TV, thousands of people signed a petition to stop him.  A Change.org petition was created in Italian to be sent to the director of Tgcom24, Paul Landry, asking him to remove Sollecito from their program, ‘The Yellow of the week.’

Joran van der Sloot, the main suspect in the case of missing high school student Natalee Holloway in 2005, has confessed to murdering her. A reporter who interviewed van der Sloot, surreptitiously recorded him on video.

Oscar Pistorius to return to prison

It is being reported on March 3, 2016 that the Constitutional Court in South Africa has rejected Oscar Pistorius’s appeal against his murder conviction. “”We can confirm that Oscar Pistorius’ leave to appeal has been denied,” National Prosecuting Authority spokesman Luvuyo Mfaku told Reuters.”  The double-amputee Olympian now faces at least 15 years in jail — a new sentence will be handed down on April 18, 2016.

Two men stand trial for stealing Amanda Knox’s knives and Meredith Kercher’s mattress

It is being reported in Italian news that two men stood in court for breaking into the cottage that Erasmus scholar Meredith Kercher was murdered in.  An unidentified Italian native and a foreigner, two males, burglarized the cottage on Via della Pergola, two times, once in February 2009 and again in March 2009.

Amanda Knox co-defendant Rudy Guede working on a publication and online store

It is being reported in Italian news that the Ivorian embassy paid a visit to Amanda Knox co-defendant Rudy Guede.  Guede was born in the Ivory Coast before being brought to Italy at the age of five by his father and growing up Italian.  He described all of this in his January 21, 2016 interview with Franca Leosini on television show Storie Maledette.

Lawyers volunteer to help Amanda Knox co-defendant Rudy Guede

After Rudy Guede’s sensational interview on Italian TV show Storie Maledette (Cursed Stories), viewed by 1.5 million people, lawyers have offered to help.  It is being reported today that there has been an outpouring of support for Guede.  Lawyers have come forward and offered to work pro bono to help Guede get a retrial.

Rudy Guede is serving a 16-year sentence for being an accomplice to murdering Meredith Kercher, a British exchange student and former roommate of Amanda Knox.   Kercher was found stabbed to death on November 1, 2007 in Perugia, Italy.  Rudy was convicted of the murder and sexual assault in October 2008, while Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito were acquitted last year.

Rudy Guede said, “I instructed to two colleges of lawyers and Roman Viterbo, who will follow my defense and for the specific needs and to evaluate the possibility of a retrial.”  After Guede’s interview aired many people have written him message of support on his new Twitter and Facebook pages.  “I want to thank – says Rudy Guede – all the lawyers these days are proposed to take my defense on a voluntary basis, as well as all the people who have expressed solidarity ‘to me. I’m touched.”

His interview, which has been translated into English by volunteer Eric Paroissien, has been published online.
