Slender man stabbing trial starts

On September 12, 2017 the trial for Anna Weier began in Wisconsin.  Weier and her friend Morgan Geyser are being tried as adults for stabbing their friend Peyton Leutner in 2014.  The girls were all 12 years old at the time of the attack.  Leutner was struck 19 times but survived.

Judge castigates controversial psychiatrist Dr. Breggin in Michelle Carter case

It is being reported on August 21, 2017 that Michelle Carter was in court on two separate issues.  One was to clarify the probation requirements of Ms. Carter who was found guilty of manslaughter earlier this month.  The other was to admonish the defense’s expert witness, Dr. Peter Breggin, who testified on Carter’s behalf.

Slender Man stabber pleads guilty

It is being reported on August 21, 2017 that one of the two girls who stabbed a friend 19 times plead guilty to murder.  In 2014 two 12-year-old friends made a pact to slay a third girl as a sacrifice to fictional internet character Slender Man.  The attack took place in a park near Milwaukee Wisconson. The victim, Payton Leutner, survived.

Judge tells Michelle Carter that she cannot be ‘an Amanda Knox’ as she gets 15 month sentence

 

It is being reported on August 3, 2017 that Michelle Carter was sentenced to fifteen months in prison and the same amount of a suspended sentence.  Judge Moniz handed Carter a total of two and a half years in court with half of the sentence suspended.  Carter was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter last month in the death of her friend Conrad Roy III.

Yingying Zhang abductor pleads ‘Not guilty’ back in court August 28

It is being reported on July 20, 2017 that the man charged with kidnapping Chinese scholar Yingying Zhang was arraigned in federal court today.  Brendt Christensen spoke briefly, entering a plea of “not guilty.”

“The killer walks free and does whatever he wants.”  These were the words spoken by Ronald Goldman’s father on TV just hours before O.J. Simpson went before a parole board.  Mr. Goldman spoke about the problems with the justice system- giving violent offenders a second chance.  Victims and their families don’t get a second chance.

Is Yingying Zhang still alive?

UPDATE 11-July-17:  It is being reported that authorities have concluded that Yingying Zhang was not in Salem, IL.

“Salem Police Detective Bryan Green . . . traveled to Champaign Tuesday to meet with the parents of 26-year-old Yingying Zhang to show them video surveillance of the woman who apparently had been mistaken for her daughter. Green says they were able to see the woman in the video was not their daughter.”

The FBI has already stated that they believe missing student Yingying Zhang is no longer alive.  Authorities do not make this statement lightly.

Alleged Yingying Zhang abductor was looking for next victim at vigil

It is being reported on July 5, 2017 that that man accused of abducting University of Illinois visiting scholar Yingying Zhang appeared in court today regarding bail.  During the hearing, more evidence that the FBI obtained was released to the public. Judge Eric Long denied Brendt Christensen bail after finding him a flight risk and a danger to the community.
