Day care workers charged for encouraging children to fight

It is being reported on September 1, 2015 that two workers of a child care center in N.J. encouraged the children to fight each other in a ‘fight club.’  The youngsters were between the ages of 4 and 6.  The caretakers also video recorded the fights and uploaded them to social media.

The abuse occurred at Lightbridge Academy Daycare  in Cranford, NJ.  “Erica Kenny, 22, of Cranford and Chanese White, 28, of Roselle both are charged with fourth-degree child abuse . . .”  The women are also facing third degree charges of child endangerment. The women are no longer employed by the child care center.

Kenny is accused of using her cell phone to record the children pushing and hurting each other.  She then uploaded the video to Snapchat.  In the videos, approximately twelve children are shown punching and slamming each other to the floor.  None of the children are thought to have been seriously injured.  However, the investigation is ongoing.

On their website the day care center boasts, “Lightbridge Academy creates genuine, caring relationships with every family member, ensuring the educational success and well-being of each child.”
