500K bounty on Ashley Madison Hacker


A news was conference held on Monday August 24, 2015 to offer a $500,000 reward to anyone who identifies the hackers that released private data from the Ashley Madison website.  The repercussions of this security breach has spread all over the world.  At least two suicides have been directly connected to this computer attack.

The owners of the Ashley Madison website, Avid Life Media are offering the reward for any information which leads to the identity of the hackers and their arrest.  The large-scale computer hack revealed the personal and financial information of millions of uses of the service.  Ashely Madison catered to people who were looking to cheat on their spouses.

However it is the public humiliation of prominent citizens which have caused the most severe fallout.  Besides outing people who have visited the website, hackers also claim to have tens of thousands of nude pictures.   Scam artists have taken advantage of this attack to offer people to delete their information from the internet for a price.  However, the hackers say a complete wipe-out of user information is impossible.

The hackers identify themselves as the ‘Impact Group’ and explained that they exposed the adultery website because they didn’t like how the company treated its customers.
