Mediator to resolve trust fund issues of Heather Mack – Bali suitcase killer

“Lawyers on Friday, August 14, 2015 told a Cook County judge that they may bring in an independent mediator to help them resolve disagreement over the $1.56 million trust fund that Sheila von Wiese-Mack had left to Heather Mack, her only child, in the event of her death.”

The legal  issues surrounding the inheritance of Heather Mack who with her boyfriend, killed her mother Sheila von Wiese-Mack almost exactly a year ago.  On August 12, 2014, “The half-naked body of 62-year-old Sheila von Wiese-Mack was found stuffed in a suitcase in the back of a taxi outside the five-star St. Regis hotel on the tourist island of Bali.”  19-year-old Heather Mack was sentenced to ten years in prison while her 22-year-old boyfriend,Tommy Schaefer was sentenced to 18 years.
Heather gave birth to a baby girl in March 2015 and plans are being drawn out to ensure that the baby receives the inheritance instead of Heather.  By law Heather cannot receive her mother’s property.
“Under Illinois’ slayer statute, a person who intentionally and unjustifiably caused the death of another person cannot receive property as a result of the death of that person.”
Heather is receiving some funds to help feed her and her baby who will stay with her in prison for the first two years of life.
