Just days after Rudy Guede pointed the finger at him and Amanda Knox for being at the scene of the murder, Raffaele Sollecito announced in the news that he has filed a petition against the state of Italy. He is suing for half a million Euros claiming wrongful imprisonment. “The application was filed today at the Court of Appeal of Florence by his lawyers, Giulia Bongiorno and Luca Maori.”

Sollecito first announced his intentions to sue the government last year, on the anniversary of Meredith Kercher’s death, while simultaneously announcing his new computer application. He designed a kind of social network that was created to commemorate the dead. His new venture was given the nickname ‘Draculapp’ on social media.

Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito were imprisoned from November 6, 2007 to October 4, 2011 a month short of four years. Amanda Knox has not announced any intention to pursue the same type of litigation.  She would not be allowed to sue for all four years behind bars as Knox was found guilty of calunnia or criminal defamation when she falsely accused her boss, Patrick Lumumba, of murdering the Erasmus scholar. Knox was sentenced to three years time served for her calunnia conviction which was finalized by the Italian Supreme Court last year.
