It is being reported on October 6, 2015 that the South African courts have denied Oscar Pistorius’s petition to move out of prison and into house arrest for the remainder of his sentence.
The judge also requested that Pistorius, 28, receive some psychotherapy however his family maintains that he is already receiving psychological support.
The former Olympic runner was convicted of manslaughter in October 2014 for the shooting death of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. Pistorius murdered Steenkamp on February 14, 2013.
The courts found Pistorius guilty of the lesser charge of ‘culpable homicide’ last year but the prosecution has appealed this ruling and a new court date is set for next month. The prosecution hopes to convict him of murder.
Pistorius’s family was unhappy with the court’s rejecting his transfer to house arrest and complained that the high profile nature of his case in the media is affecting his rights.
