It is being reported on September 13, 2015 that the sister of Meredith Kercher gave an interview where she opens up about her reaction to the Italian Supreme Court’s acquittal of Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito. Knox and Sollecito have been convicted twice for murdering Meredith Kercher, now they have been acquitted twice. The Italian Supreme Court recently released their reasoning report which has been controversial.
Stephanie Kercher responded to questions about this final decision by the Italian courts regarding the death of her sister. After eight long years the Italian judicial system gave two conflicting verdicts in a trial that has become an international story.
“To be honest I find it incredibly difficult to understand how so many judicial authorities may contradict each other.” Stephanie explained. After almost a decade of trials, the truth has yet to be revealed by the Italian courts. What really happened? A question that will never be answered by the Italian legal system.
“We are a family torn by grief trying to find a way to resist and remember Meredith,” Stephanie said. She described how the grave site of her slain sister is the one place where friends and family may gather to remember her life, full of love and happiness.
The reporter callously questioned the grief-stricken sister about having the murder suspects visit Meredith’s final resting place. Stephanie explained again, “I had already requested that the circumstances of the situation the two of them do not have to visit the grave of Meredith . . .. For us it is a place to meet again and recall the happy times we spent together with her. To go against our wishes Personal is disrespectful and unacceptable. Meredith should have at least the right to rest in peace at last. “
This type of request is not unheard of in criminal psychology. As prominent psychoanalyst Dr. Andrew Hodges described in a podcast about this case. Murderers often want to communicate and connect with their victims families. Psychopaths enjoy reliving the brutal torture that they inflict.
The apparently clueless reporter then asked Stephanie if she would ever meet with the two twice convicted killers. Stephanie calmly replied, “They are free to continue their lives and I think that would be better. We have no reason or need to meet them. . .”
